10-28-2010 - Video and Photos from the Women for Neil Sign Waving Event

imageNearly 2,000 women rallied for Neil Abercrombie and Brian Schatz Wednesday afternoon in mass sign waving events across the state.

On Oahu, more than 1,500 women lined the streets from downtown Honolulu to Abercrombie for Governor headquarters on Ward Avenue. The campaign organized similar sign waving events with people wearing “Women for Neil” shirts in Lihue, Wailuku, Hilo, Waimea and Kona.

Neil was thrilled by the support. He said, “I walked up Ward Avenue to Kapiolani Boulevard and it really hit me after talking to hundreds of supporters. This was the most incredible display of citizen participation that I have seen in all my years in public office. I have said repeatedly that this campaign is not about me. It is about everyday people doing their part to change the course of history. I have never been so energized by momentum building in a campaign. A wave of change is coming to Hawaii on November 2.”

Below is a video of the Oahu event, followed by photos from Oahu, Kauai, and Waimea on the Big Island--with photos from the other island events coming shortly.

Here's a link to photos from the Waimea event on the Big Island. Many thanks to photographer Kami Carter!
